Thanked: 1195If that is an adjustable it looks like a Gillette Fatboy. It's a good find, either way. Any standard DE (or double edge) safety razor blade will work. Plenty of blade info here at the safety razor section.

Hiya,
Looks like a slim. Check under the head and you'll see a letter on the left(year made) and a number on the right(which quarter).
The earliest is a 'G', which dates to 1961. Just count one year for each letter after that to date yours. For example, an 'L' dated razor's made in 1966.
The slim is one of the favorites of many members. Make sure you tighten the handle down all the way before using it, and maybe set the thing on #4 to start with.

Any...
Start with the local drugstore brand. I have been
consistently impressed with them, and the price. Do surf the net
and look for a sample pack that contains something like:
Feather, Derby, Persona Red and a couple more.
The darn things are different, more so than you might
expect.
The Feather and Merkur have a following, I find the
second shave much better than the first.
Since it is second hand clean it well. Boil it for
20 min scrub it with an old toothbrush..... dry it
overnight and boil it again. OK that is a lot of sanitizing
and might be overkill but it is plated brass and
can take it. It is not going to rust like the carbon
steel of a str8.
A shave brush and shave soap and you are good to go.

What Kind of Blades . . .
Hello, eculuke:
Yes, that is a good find. Like our good friend DeLayne, I, too, think it's the slim. Clean it up, as niftyshaving advises, and you're ready to go. You can use the standard double edge razor blade, of course, as Ryan says. Get yourself a sample pack of blades and experiment. I use Feathers, and the Gillette 7 O'Clock "Sharp Edge" blades in the yellow wrapping. Another blade might work better for you. Experiment.

Obie
