    Default Different Razors...

I have a day off so forgive me for posting three times in a day!

But, I could not imagine that there could be a difference in Razors, I have a Dovo special, a J.R’s of Sheffield wedge type and now a Dovo INOX SS (I just literally used after honing).

I notice a difference between them all I cant really quantify it, I know that the J.R for me is absolutely incredible and yet the others are equally pleasant the Stainless having a different feel but just as close? I found it hard to understand that there really could be a noticeable shave difference in shaves by different grinds and tempers, but there is? Anybody else have these experiences? Were you read some one writing “terrible shave” or “fantastic shave, better than X or Y” and you are kind of dubious, like they maybe have the “king with no clothes syndrome” and yet I find myself in the same boat.

I also wrote in “musings of a newbie” that I could not get pyramid honing by Lynn, and this afternoon using my cool scientific approach of no bias honed up my of the shelf Dovo INOX Stainless, to my surprise its pop’ing hairs! Like they are going out of fashion.

Well shows that you don’t always know what you know.

I know it’s off topic but I am quite excited as I am moving to Boston in MA from the UK for a few years come November with the family (well fingers crossed) I cant wait!!!

Welcome to the colonies. Boston is a great town. I think everyone notices a difference in straight razors as they become practiced in shaving with them. I do for sure. Keeps it interesting and feeds the desire for more.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

There's a world of difference between a wedge and a full hollow of course, but there are also differences in "personality" between ostensibly similar razors too. And some of us own razors which have altogether too much personality... one of mine seems to be possessed by a mischievous spirit.
