Thread: Another FIRST TIMER!!!!

Just got the razor last night....and had to shave. Amazingly close with 1 pass WTG!! I had to touch up parts on my chin and neck with my DE (sorry) and the left hand was awkward. But still amazing....and I am happy to report no cuts.....except the strop got 2 . Thats ok by me....only strange thing was it was pulling a little< (it was a razor shave ready fro srd...but it was pulling and did not pass the HHT.....I admit I did not strop befor hand because it said you did not have to. But after the shave, I wanted to make sure the razor was dry so I put it to the strop for 50 times (before this I had to keep the hair tight and the razor needed force to go through the hair) and it passed the HHT. All in all...a great first time success and I will not go back

Be on the lookout, bad technique will mimick a dull razor in the hands of a beginner. I'm sure that was what you were experiencing. I had the same feeling about a Bismarck I got from Lynn. These days, they're my gold standard in honing.

You'll be lucky if your first strop makes it six months...mine did...barely. After that, I got a SRD Premium 1 strop and have only nicked it once in six months.

Way to go. Don't be ashamed that you used your DE. Stop shaving with the straight if you don't feel comfortable.

now way....I will use the de for touch up for now. but the straight was closer, less irritating and lots of fun....now I am worried I will start buying all kinds of razors!!
