Smile Just finished my First Straight Razor Shave

and I must say at times it didnt feel too good and sometimes it felt like I was using the spine as it was very smooth. I think I was in too much of a hurry when it didnt feel good and I would catch myself and get the proper angle. I did both cheeks and the neck. I tried the jawline which didnt feel right. I made 3 passes, however I felt areas that were not smooth. Hopefully it just takes practice. I am happy to say that I did not nick myself on this shave. I enjoyed this learning shave and look forward to doing it again. I had two days growth for this shave. I used a Dovo Professionally Honed 5/8. Following the shave, I dried it and gave it 20 passes on the strop then oiled it and put it away for the night. Just wanted to share my first shave experience.

Congratulations, I did my first Straight shave a couple days ago as well. Take your time and you will get the hang of it. If it does not feel right stop and take a moment to adjust what you had. Everyone here says take your time and let the blade do the work and after three shaves I am barely starting to understand what they are saying.

congratulations with your first shave. Your first experience isnt bad at all.be patient and try to find right cutting angle when you move from one loction to next. Dont think example you shave particular location 30 degree and you should shave jawline in same angle too. Just lower a little see what happens. Think this way you are in control of blade in your hand.you can do anything you like. Enjoy straight shaving

First off Welcome; As Sham has said above watch your angle. 30 degrees or less depending where your shaving. Good luck and keep at it.
