Hello everyone,
Basically, I got couple of straight razors I want to restore.
What is the best Disinfection method, other than Alcohol ?
Thank you in advance.

well I woulda said use Alcohol but be careful and test a small amount on the scales just to sure it doesnt have an adverse reaction depending on the scale material

The best disinfection method is restoration itself.
Are you removing the scales?
It makes sense to start with an alcohol wipe
or dip, soap and water, and a toothbrush. You
want to get all the rubbish (soap, whiskers) and
old rust removed so there are no places for
bugs to hide.
The next steps depend on the restore.
If you are sanding with wet dry paper by
hand you can sand with peroxide and/or
a diluted bleach solution. The combination
of abrasion down to bright steel and
a strong oxidizer will kill or remove bacteria
and what not.
After the strong oxidizer it is necessary to clean
rinse the steel and then protect it from further
rusting. Do the cleaning and light oiling before
polishing.
As a final step a Barbicide timed soak followed by a rinse in hot tap
water and a light oiling is recommended by many.... especially
after a shave test.

Isopropyl alcohol have a content of 90% will kill HBV and HCV, the only viruses you really need to worry about. HIV will have died during the first couple hours of shipping it.
Glad you said disinfection instead of sterilization since true sterilization of a straight razor is impractical.
