Thanked: 3Final 5 in soaps
I know, I know, soap smells are a subjective trait and everyone's taste differs....However....My Van der Hagen is running out and I have researched and come up with my final 5 contestants for a replacement soap. I need y'all's help selecting the winner, as I can not smell the pictures on the computer screen. The contestants are:
D.R Harris Lavender
D.R Harris Arlington
D.R Harris Marlborough
D.R Harris Almond
Tabac
I really like the write-ups on these soaps, and the prices don't seem too limiting...Feel free to vote, and yes, write-ins are welcome. Thanks all.
Jym
PS. got my email from Glen and my first Swaty is on the way...Yes!

Final 5 in soaps
Hello, Jym:
I have used the D.R. Harris lavender and find it quite pleasing, and a quality soap. Tabac is in its own class: a good soap with a pleasing soapy fragrance. The fragrance, however, some gentlemen like and some don't. I do.
Regards,
Obie

D.R Harris Lavender, Tabac, D.R Harris Marlborough,
I have tried those above and would pick them scent wise as listed.

I have not had the chance to use any of the D.R. Harris products, but I will give my vote for Tabac. I absolutely love this soap! I am in the camp of people that love the fragrance. My take on the fragrance is it smells like a thrift store, but I mean that in the best possible way. It is also the best preforming soap I own. I think these things are very subjective, but opinions can be helpful.

I really like the smell of Tabac but be warned a lot of guys on here don't like the smell. YMMV
Also, incase you're interested I really like the smell of Mitchell's wool fat, which just smells like soap.

I have all of those except the Almond. So, I'd say get them all
They're all really good. The Marlborough and Tobac might be a little "warmer" in scent. The Lavender and Arlington a little "fresher" and might be more pleasing in warm weather.
But you can't go wrong any way you choose.

If your only problem with Van der Hagen is fragrance, remember that it melts beautifully in the microwave. You can add any fragrance you want, then pour it right back into the plastic blister packs to cool. Presto, inexpensive soap with a nice, lasting lather and your own choice of fragrance. All for just a couple bucks a puck.
