I put a straight razor to my face today.
    Distance traveled: 3 inches.
    Cuts: Zero.
I said a prayer of thanks, and finished with my D/E.

Today, I went from "I could never do that" to "I shaved with a straight razor."
The next $10,000 I spend on razors, stones, strops, and soaps won't get me a leap that big.

    I'm in.

    Welcome aboard dude

3 inches is 3 inches regardless of what anyone else says it may be a babystep but hopefully one of many. Good luck on the journey.

Don't you worry. Soon enough that 3 inches is gonna turn into 3 million miles!

Hmm makes me wonder how much distance is traveled by a razor during a shave?

Well...I think you were already in, way before you put blade to skin. Probably when you made the conscious decision to put down the cartridge razor. That was your first milestone (the MOST important, IMO).

Now, you just got hooked .

BTW: Congrats on your 3rd milestone (2nd is purchasing the "stuff" and not letting fear dominate your world)

+1...an awesome question Basil. I'd be curious too.

Hmmmm!! I think someone should devise and attach a gizmos like the ones runners use that calculates how far they ran. It'll help keep track of the razor mileage, so to speak .

C'mon Geek...Show no fear my friend . We have to face the music sometime . If the fat lady is going to sing, I want to hear her clear her throat.

Besides, with that many miles, maybe I can make my shaves a little "greener" and energy efficient going forward.

Maybe we could do a frequent shavers card, for every hundred miles you get a free soap
