Helping newbies find their way to this site
Hey, I partly just want to say what's up to all the members as I am new here, and I think this site is just great after looking at all the other straight razor sites that give brief tutorials. I just wish I'd found it sooner so I would have known just what to do get the right kinds of hones and been much more informed before started buying razors and accessories. My point: When I first got interested, I googled "how to shave with straight razor" and found a lot of sites without the detailed information (some gave me, ignorant as I was, the idea that I could use any old razor hone to sharpen up a razor.) this one has. So, to help others in my situation who haven't found this site, would it be possible to make this site come up when that question is googled.

Thanked: 0I am not sure but I think the display order on the google search page is determined by the number of hits on that site. The only other way to be on the top of the page is to pay and be one of the sponspred links. I am fairly sure that is how it works but I am just guessing.

I am a career online marketer. The house plan site I run, competes with other websites with millions of dollars a year marketing budgets. We are on the first page of "house plans "
Anyway the answer to your question is yes, this site could be placed on that keyword VERY easily. I also did a keyword analysis on shaving, the sites on the first page of shaving have no professional marketing done to them whatsoever.
Meaning, someone who knew what they were doing could place this site #1 for the keyword shaving. How to shave, how to shave with a straight razor. Etc
Also, the normal google results, the ones that arent on the side, and highlighted in colors, are free rankings.
Google uses a complex page rank agorithm, with inbound link analysis, link text analysis, site size. As well as a number of different things, recently it has taken a neighborhood approach to links. meaning you want people to link to this site that have anything to do with the "home". It would take me 10,000 pages to start to describe how to place sites effectively.
The bottom line is, you are in a category where no one is "competing".Last edited by gnomore; 04-28-2006 at 06:43 PM.

I prefer to keep the place nice and quiet. I get great shaves and have great company. More people could just mean more, well . . . people. LOL....
