I've been shaving with a straight razor for 40 years,
but I've only recently discovered and joined this SRP
community. It has been a humbling experience.

I immediately realized how ignorant an "old dog" could
be, and I commenced to learn a few "new tricks", thanks
to all the knowledgable and helpful folks here.

Here's a few things that I've learned here, so far:

1) Whatever I've learned about sharpening knives and
tools does not necessarily apply to straight razors...
it's a different ballgame, requiring alot more precision
and patience, and often a new skill set.

2) Using proper techniques (preparation and shaving)
transforms a chore into a real pleasure. The SRP wikis
and forums are a treasure-chest of information!

3) There's a whole bunch of "new stuff" on offer out
there, and Acquisition Disorder is a real phenomena!
Browsing thru all the online catalogs is big fun, but
I have to restrain myself. It's far too easy to go crazy
in the candy store, and I really don't need everything,
all at once.

4) The SRP is a real community of friendly, like-minded
individuals, many of whom are extremely experienced,
and always willing to share what they know.

I thank you all for the opportunity for an old dog to learn
some new tricks. It's a great pleasure to meet you.

Respectfully,
Paul
