    Default First Feather Razor experience

Wanted to share some experience, basically just purchased Feather (RG series folding) straight razor with replaceable blades (Pro-guard). Feather razor deviated very much from my Dovo. Even though I am fairly experienced shaver with my Dovo Razor, but this one was just a big difference. The reason I went with RG model is because it was $150 cheaper than DX model and based on the pictures they look fairly identical.
For these who shave with Feather Straight razors, which blades would you recommend? I already got ProGuard 0.15mm thick.
Second, is there a sufficient difference b/w RG and DX models?

I had an RG and I currently have a DX. On a purely functional level there doesn't appear to be any significant difference between them. Their weight and balance are not identical, but they're pretty close.

As far as the blades go, I really disliked the ProGuards when I tried them. My favorite is the ProSuper. I think they give a very good shave, especially after they have a couple of shaves on them.

Oh, Thanks i'll try these out.
In regards to RG and DX, there must be some sort of a difference (maybe in material), because $150 difference is significant money.

The difference is in the materials used. The RG is plated brass as opposed to stainless steel for the DX. The handle materials are similarly upgraded to wood. Mine is teak, but I think there are some other choices including ebony. I'm not up to speed on the current offerings as I bought my DX a few years ago and haven't kept up with the line.

i also have the dx and use light blades.. i started with pros and found them to give a harsh first shave.. so i went with the lights.. i don't have the thickest beard out there.. so they work perfectly..

i have the plastic handled dx.. i plan on having some faux tortoise scales put on at some point.

Since I did not have a chance to hold both of them in my hands and compare. I thought, maybe DX has difference blade holder shape in comparison to RG ?
Does anybody has detailed picture of DX (all sides)
Today, I shaved again with my RG (with Proguard blades) and it gave me some fair nicks, overall it was no bad, but I think I have to get used to it.

I've never had one but in reading posts about them I've got the impression that extra care must be used in shaving with them to avoid nicks. Read my sig below, the old barber's advice may be of some help.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
