Default Did this happen to you too?

I have noticed that for the last half a dozen shaves or so my razor hasn't seemed sharp, but I have been getting good shaves.

It is hard to explain, but i am beginning to think that i was equating sharpness with irritation & nicks somehow instead of the ability of the razor to cut hair. I haven't been getting irritation, nicks, cuts, and weepers recently, so i thought it might be because my razor isn't sharp, but i keep getting good shaves.

My shaves keep getting better and the irritation gets less and less. It is really weird and amazing.

If you use DE/SE blades try palm stropping..it smooths the blade out a bit.
If you use a straight razor..could be your technique or pre shave prep..make sure you strop properly before and after to maintain as good an edge as you can

Sounds like your touch may have lightened up

I experienced something similar when I was a noob , right before I gave myself two nasty cuts . Don't make the mistake of thinking your razor isn't sharp . If it shaves , it's sharp , super sharp !

+1 on that. I think your touch just naturally lightens up as you gain confidence that the blade will cut without adding pressure.

...and your skin is getting smoother, as it is getting used to the blade.

Double rainbows and World Peace is next if you keep it up.
