Sounds like a plan. A couple of suggestions:
I used Williams for about tfwo years before I went to a straight razor. Then I discovered glycerin soaps. You can get some at Wal-Mart for a pretty good price. Once I tried it, I wish I'd never wasted my time on the Williams. It's like the difference between a MacDonald's burger and a fillet mignon.
I don't know if it's still the case, but Classic used to send their razors to Lynn for honing. If you buy from Lynn, at Straight Razor Design, you'll also get your next honing free.
I'm wondering why you want to shave with a DE before a straight. If you want to sample the pleasures of a DE shave, great. But if you see it as an intermediate step, I'm not sure it's necessary.
