David, lots of piety for you. I'm also very eager buying a shave ready piece from the Classifieds section. My budget is up to $50 or that's what I am willing to give away for a first razor. I'm still getting myself familiar with all the things around. I suppose I'll make a thread asking for your opinions very soon. Cheers.
Hmmm. Ok, so we have $50 to work with total or just for a razor?

I just went to the classifieds and I saw several for under $50 that would work very well for you - first razor or not. So that would leave you with needing a strop. You will get 1 shave out of a shave ready razor and then have to strop for the next shave. There is a strop called a Filly strop from Rup Razor that is a REALLY no frills strop that would get you going. The plus side is that if you nick the heck out of it (and you will) you won't cry in your soup. I know some beginners use them.
    RupRazor - The Filly

So here is what we have:
$50 for a razor from the classifieds
    $22 for a Filly strop
$10 for a VDH Brush, Bowl and Soap Combo

So that is $82.00 to start up.

The other route you could go is to clean the razor you have yourself and then send it out to get honed. But still that would be about $30.00, knocking the total down to about $62.00.

So now it is decision time young man - which is part of the gentlemanly thing you like about being here.

^Yes, I meant $50 for the razor alone! Your detailed help is well appreciated, I'll go with what you suggested. Would it be alright to message you for an opinion on a razor when I am ready to purchase?

@thorxes, Thanks, we're soon to find out.

@fpessanha, I've been on different forums but this one really seem different just by the way people respond to your introduction thread. Very very mature, I've always liked seeing this. Thank you.
