Default My opinion of Cartridge shaving

Today's (sept 23rd, 2010) dibert is a great example of what I think of cartridge shaving.

    Default Cartridge shaving . . .

    Gentlemen:

Yes, indeed. The cartoon is an apt picture of the cartridge razor world.

That's so true. Everytime I'm at a store and see some guy buying the latest Gillette disposable gizmo, I want to grab the guy and say, "Snap out of it! You are throwing your money away because you've been misled." Even if using a straight razor is not for everyone, with a very modest investment these misled men would get great shaves from using either SE or DE razors. In this case, ignorance is not bliss.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

In 1973 when Gilette first introduced the Trac II on Saturday Night Live, Chevy Chase held up a Trac II and said "It's the Gilette Trac II becuase you will buy anything."

SNL didn't start until 1975, but yeah that would have been funny

I remember seeing a skit about a razor with a dozen blades or more that was good too

    Default Gilette

I hate to admit but I was that guy buying the newest and latest Gilette invention or should I say over priced face scraper. But thanks to this site I am now free from the hype and have moved on to a better place.

they're just like everything else. here's a question for you. have you ever counted the number of items in a grocery store that are labeled "new and improved", "reformulated", and "contains 10% more ingredient x"?

the object of marketing is to make a luxery a necessity and some people will fall for it every time.
