First Shave_Part 2
I just finished part 2 of my my first straight razor shave. I finished my chin and neck. No nicks. No scratches. No scrapes. For now! Again, following Lynn's advice was the key. Else I would not have known where or how to start. It certainly isn't the best shave and I really didn't expect it to be. The neck and chin were particularly tough as my hair seems grows in different directions. But I got through. I also used my weak hand as Lynn suggested. At first I thought he was crazy but I was surprised at how easy it was to actually get the hang of. Later this week I will be getting together with CarrieM and Joed for some personal help and tutoring. I'm really looking forward to that. This is great. I wish I had done this years ago. To all a pleasant evening. Well at least its night here.

Larry,
Great job on your first shave. I will tell you now that the chin and neck will continue to give you trouble for some time....unfortunately. I have been shaving with a straight for about six months, and the chin and neck remain a challenge. You will soon develop your own technique for tackling your trouble spots.
I think meeting in person with C & J will be the best thing you can do. I wish I had someone to meet in person to show me the basics.....especially stropping.
Anyway, good luck and keep it up!
