Another factor is the thickness/toughness of you whiskers. There are folks who will argue that hair thickness makes no difference. I don't agree.
Hair (which is what your whiskers are) can range in size from 20-200 microns. The thinner the hair, the longer your blade will work without needing to be refreshed. You'll have to take the time to learn your razors and your beard.
When I use multi-blade razors they start to pull after 5 shaves. I have friends that can use them for a month with no pulling.
Hope that helps a bit.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Thanked: 30I can shave along as soon as I get t my chin its 6 passes to get near bbs no matter how sharp it its.The difference is how bad it pulls. If the blade isn't sharp I'll end up with a 2" slice atg every time.

Imho most decent quality razors hold their edge 'long enough' before you have to use barber hone. To me it doesn't really matter if it is 30 or 40 shaves.
It doesn't have to be one of those big names as long as you remember to avoid Paki razors or such trash that doesn't hold their edge mostly at all.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
