First ATG!
Finally did it! I had some bleeding on the chin, but it wasn't from nicking myself. I always would bleed a bit going ATG no matter what razor I was using. However, I am really happy I was able to. I am sure I can get a better ATG shave with some more practice, but I can't complain for my first time.
Now I just hope I don't get some serious razor burn!

Thanked: 3Right there with ya.
I did my second ATG today. No serious nicks.
I picked up a stiptic pencil yesterday, but so far so good.
I've found that, oddly, I nick myself less and have less razor burn with my straight than I ever have had with cartridges (and I had invested in the $$$ cartridges). The shaves are closer...and I really feel that I can control the angle of the blade much better.
I still take it very slowly, but I've found that the time is worth it. I've loathed shaving for the last 20 years. Twice this week, I found myself looking forward to shaving. It's a nice change.
I've found that if I hold the blade out to an angle more perpendicular to my face on a second pass, I get an incredible shave...almost not worth doing the ATG.
Later,
Goatee

Here's the deal (for me anyway YMMV)
1) Keep blade flat (ish) on skin.
2) slight scythe.
3) Light, light touch.
4) no/minimal pressure.
5) short strokes (do not muscle through)
6) Stretch and then stretch some more.
7) Scary sharp razor, otherwise "don't even go there". Re strop for this pass.
All considered I have got some truly BBS going ATG, third pass usually.
Good luck.
