I faced a similar problem here in Brisbane when I started out shaving with a straight razor but I took the typical Aussie approach of DIY, brought what I required and learned how to hone with the assistance of the members on this site and the original SRP forum.

I wouldn't refer to myself as a honmiester but have a razor rotation of about 50 plus razors that all shave well. So if any Australian members are having difficulty getting their razors honed, I would be happy to assist. Just send me a PM.

Way to step up to the plate, John. The Aus component appears to be something that has been growing in recent months and it's been interesting to see how "far away" the place is to us North Americans, what with difficulty getting Norton combination stones at a reasonable price and all.

This is a great service for the land down under and I think it's worth a Gold Star!

Thanks for the offer John I just my take you up on that also, however I`m somewhat of a persistant bugger and don`t like to be beaten by inanimate objects , so it will be out with the stones again tonight
What state do you reside in
Myself I`m usually in the state of utter confusion (but I live in Maleny QLD , Gods country)
    Kind regards Peter

For the cost of airfare out there and dinner on each of you, I'd be more than happy to hone all your razors for you....really!

Wow, I had no idea there were so many Oz members. John, I would like to take you up on the offer of honing my razor so that I can start with a good point of reference, then I will have a go myself. How can I send it to you?

Heh, here I am again a day late and a dollar short.

Here's something else to consider as well. I can't remember the name on eBay but a fellow shipped razors world wide for $5.00 u.s., insurance extra. I'd have to believe there's some Australian version of this as well.

Not trying to take business away from any Aussies, but if the single australian honemeister becomes overwhelmed this is another option
