Thanked: 4Sleep deprivation is a Bad Thing!
Back when I was still using my Fusion disposables, I'd shave in the evening, right before bed, as the wife really likes me to feel cleanshaven as I crawl into bed. So, I was planning on maintaining that habit.
Well, as I'd mentioned in the thread to my intro post, I've been working on finishing my basement, and put in a full day of work down there Saturday, bending conduit and pulling wire, with a dinner party after.
So, exhausted, I pull into the bathroom hoping for a nice refreshing shave at 10:30 that evening. I should have just packed everything up when I saw that my fine muscle control was pretty much shot from all the work I did that day, but I'm known as a stubborn lad. And I gave myself two pretty nice cuts. Not just nicks. My wife joked the next morning when she got a good look at them in the light that I just need an eyepatch and I'll look like one of the old German fencers.
I went in and shaved about a half an hour ago (well rested and caffienated), and had only one very minor nick, and probably qualitatively ended out with the best overall shave yet.
I guess I'm going to have to change my routine and start shaving in the morning now.

Thanked: 50I noticed the same thing. You need perfect concentration to shave with a straight.
Hungover or sleepy can be(literally) deadly.

Never use a str8 when your tired or in a rush. Not a healthy thing to do!

Yep, every time I've nicked myself or my strop its been because I'm tired and not concentrating.
I've been using my DE a lot recently (being between houses and all my razor stuff is boxed up) but I've had a few great shaves recently and really enjoyed taking the time over it!

Thanked: 4I think I'm onto something here
I'm starting to think that late morning to early afternoon may be my time. Second time in a row that I've managed a full shave with virtually no blood (hey, if it isn't still bleeding by the time you rinse the soap off, it doesn't count, right?)
So, looks like lunchtime will be my preferred shaving time.
Telecommuting has its advantages.
