    Default Cut Again!

"Hi, my name is Qatsats and I've been sober . . . I mean, I've been shaving with a straight razor for five weeks." (Hi, Qatsats.)

I've been shaving WTG with a shavette and Persona ridged back blades for about 5 weeks. The first week, when the fresh blade was very sharp, I cut off a small piece of my chin. Left a scar. I finish my shaves with a DE. Each shave thereafter became more comfortable. I attribute the change to slowly improving skills, but also to the fact the blade was getting duller. On week three I changed the blade and went really slow. I changed the blade this A.M. and with the first touch on my cheek I came away with fine red line. These things are sharp! Unforgiving.

I've bought a shave-ready straight from Sham: a real beauty. I've used it once but I'm leaving it on the shelf until I get my strop. Besides, at this rate, I've got enough blades for the shavette for the next 3 years!

So you learned the hard way about shavettes. You will find the straight to be a bit more forgiving.

Read my sig below to help avoid nicks and cuts .... if you do what the old barber says.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I have ignored Jimmy's sig and cut myself. Once bitten twice shy.
