Thank you all so much for your helpful replies. As Glen F states, I plan on getting a good, shave-ready razor and would also like to get one to practice honing on w/out having to worry about destroying a good razor (or my only razor).

The willingness to help that you gentlemen have already shown makes me much more comfortable in taking on this challenge.

For those of you who don't know, Kyle is very active at Badger and Blade. Like me, he's a DEMeister! Kyle is also a Soap and Creammeister. Very well versed in a good number of shaving soaps and creams. When he joined B&B, he didn't stick a toe in the water, he did a full belly flop and got right involved. I'm glad to see him here.

Also, Andy (Woodbane) is another solid member at B&B. Both of these gents will be great contributors here.
