Thanked: 1check in the classifieds, there are some guys on the vendor section that offer honing service. i just got a dubl duck back from lynn and he brought it back from the dead! you can get to him on straight razor place and mail it out to him. hope that helps. check out the wiki section too, bunch of info links on there that may answer more of your questions.

Hi there and welcome to SRP from a fellow Mainer! +1 to the above advice. I have not been able to find any brick and mortar place in-state that could properly hone a razor. The classifieds are a good place to find a honemeister at very reasonable rates. Lynn is obviously amazing - got a razor from him at SRD - and I would also highly recommend Mainaman. Got a razor from him that was a fantastic shaver.
At any rate, welcome again, good luck, and keep us posted.

+1 Even the "Art of Shaving" shops don't know what to do with them (at least the one in DC). As recommended, check the classifieds. Lynn did mine and they are in great shape still. You should look to get a pasted strop (I use a paddle strop with CrO paste) and a barbers hone. I actually have a Norton 4K/8K combo in place of the barbers hone. You will need these to refresh your edge occasionally. After a certain period (about 5 weeks for me) I use the pasted strop. After a few months I put my blades on the hone. You shouldn't need anything more abrasive than those for quite some time unless you damage the edge. Mine were honed more than 2 years ago and the combination mentioned above and I won't need anything more than that for many more years.
