    Default Excitement - First Razor

After three weeks of research and searching my first straight razor is in the mail!

I began searching ebay for razors. After googling and finding information from this site countless times, I decided to purchase from the classifieds section. Gentlemen, I have made the leap into a bright future in shaving with straights.

I decided on a Dovo Bismark 5/8 in bone scales due to the newness of the blade, shave readiness, scale material, and of course the Dovo name.

I also ordered a BIG DADDY 3" strop from Star Shaving.

I must say I am very pleased with the community here and look forward to sharing my shaving experiences with you.

    Regards.

    Default Excitement . . .

    Hello, Chaos945:

Ah, yes, you have a good start. That Dovo is an attractive razor. From here on, please take your time to refine your skill with the straight razor. Now and then you will feel a setback, but realize that it is only temporary. Stay with it.

Welcome to the world of gentlemen shavers. If you questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Regards,
    Obie

Congrats on the new blade! Don't forget to lightly coat the blade with oil to keep it rust free. Welcome to the brotherhood of str8 users.

That's a beautiful razor, I almost bought one of those myself. Just a little advice: always mind that point. Spikes can be a little tricky to learn on, but once you get used to it, they're the best. Congrats.

    Nice!

Good luck with it and have fun! Its one of those things, once you've shaved with a straight you just cant go back to a cartridge.

Let us know how you get on!

I am having trouble maintaining my excitement. I did the same thing as you, did a lot of reading and research, ordered my Dovo (I went with the Prima) and now I sit waiting and waiting and waiting for it. It shipped right away but the USPS site doesn't update the tracking information on it, just Electronic shipping info received." I ordered on the 9th.

I am assuming Customs (I'm in Canada) is holding it up as it is basically a weapon crossing the border. A

Anyway, Contradulations and I wish you many safe shaves with your new Dovo.
