    Thumbs up Shaving ?

Do you enjoy shaving or just shave because you need to ?

I, myself love to shave daily, not because I have to but because I look forward to and enjoy it very much !! How do you like shaving ?

Both. But mainly for the love and relaxation of it all...it's me time
And being able to wield a beautiful scary sharp piece of craftsmanship to my face brings a slight exilaration into the mix of things. The feel of a fine leather strop, the soft bristles of the brush. And most of all...its cool! lol.

I think you will find that we all do this for the enjoyment of a lost art. Shaving is no longer a chore. Using a straight not only puts a challenge into shaving, but also gives a sense of satisfaction after the fact as well. Simply put, there is nothing else quite like it.

I suppose that's why we forum-users are called "shave enthusiasts"

I shave because I need to, but since I use a straight razor, I thoroughly enjoy every minute of it.

    Shaving is culture!
Every day it gives me new impression. I love vintage straight razors.

    blugill,

Before I re-took up 'wet-shaving,' I really hated the daily shave

Canned goo & a Mach 3 gave me an excrutiating shave (I have very tough whiskers).

Since I re-took up 'wet shaving', and in particular the straight razor, my shaves have now become one of the best moments of the day.

I shave when I get back from work, and the 45 minutes I allow are pure bliss; I can forget the crap of the day, and emerge from the shave happy, relaxed and in a super frame of mind

Definitely a case of 'shave therapy'

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Yep I love shaving, especially with a straight because of the challenge. Using my DE is far too easy and I know that I can get a great shave with minimal effort. But with a straight, every morning is a new experience. Sometimes I do better, sometimes I do worse, but I learn something new all the time and that's what keeps my interest alive.

For me, it's both. Shaving with a straight still takes longer than with the Atra that I used for most of my shaving life, but it's now something I look forward to. Like gull said: sometimes I get a better shave, sometimes not as good, but always there's the experience, the experimentation with technique, and all the sensory stuff. I really enjoy the feel of the sharp blade gliding across my face, something I never noticed with the cartridges. Another big draw for me was and continues to be the sense of a tangible connection with the past--not the recent past, but the long-ago past. My mother recently told me she has her great-grandfather's razor to give me, which I hope to will be restorable. How cool would that be?
