A couple of weeks ago I came across a thread where Max recommended a Thater 23mm silvertip or a Simpson Emperor for a brush in the price range around $130.00. After reading the product information on SRD's website I decided to buy the Thater brush. I decided to buy this brush based on the product information stating that it had the most body for the softness. It arrived in the mail yesterday and I was able to give it a test this morning, I have been using a DOVO 23mm silvertip brush as my everyday brush.

My preshave consists of a hot shower, followed by soaking my face in a hot towel, lather, rub the lather into my face, another hot towel, re-lather and shave. I have been using Castle and Forbes Lime, I prefer creams over soaps. I make my lather in a G5 scuttle, using a almond size potion of cream. My dovo brush has trouble breaking the almond size portion of cream down and I am typically left with a smeared patch of cream in the bottom of the scuttle, this is why I wanted a brush with more body. My dovo brush does just fine breaking down Truefit and Hill 1805. The thater brush this morning definitely broke the cream down alot better than the dovo brush. However, when it came to lathering my face this is were the thater really shined. In fact, to the point where I can definitely say I have not been getting the full potential of my cream using the dovo brush. I believe this is due to the fact that is has more body, but did not feel scratchy being such a soft brush. I did two passes on my face (WTG and XTG), and one pass (WTG) on my neck. The lather for all passes was very consistent and was extremely "fluffy" and slick, my best lather yet.

All in all I could not be happier with the thater brush. Thanks Max for the great recommendation.

Sorry about the long winded thread.
