Thread: New to Straight Shaving and quick question

Strops seem to be a matter of personal preference. I would think most will work just fine except for some of the cheap o eBay ones.

Personally for the money i'd upgrade to the 3" strop, i have a 2 inch and although the x pattern is used on small ones its still hell of alot easier if the strop is wider, if you're like me the first strop you have will end up with chunks missing at first until you get the hang of it so id only go for the cheapest 3".

The 3 inch strop would be nice because it will strop more of the blade. Either one will serve just fine though.

i still have a cheap ebay one, they are absolutly fine to learn on due to price and also i use it occasionally on my shavette just if its not bad enough to merit a new blade, and on my kropp, They do the job BUT id advise if you do get a cheap one, once you get a bit better upgrading to a good quality one.
