Thanked: 10Beginner to straight shaving
Hello everyone,
I have made my mind up to start shaving with a straight.I have been shaving with a DE's for some time now and I think this is the natural progression.I am a fanatic when it comes to wet shaving and I have lots and lots of brushes and soaps already.I have purchased but not received yet a Dovo Red Bismark 6/8 new from SRD and a Filarmonica Doble Temple 6/8 off ebay, will have to get it honed but I wanted one new and one vintage straight to get started.I also purchased a cheap strop to get started with.
I can hardly wait to for that first shave.
Happy Shaving

Thanked: 983Sounds like you've already got yourself squared away then. You'll find that using a cut-throat will take a little time to get the technique down, so be patient and don't expect to be able to get it right straight away.

well if going from DE's to a straight is the natural progression I must be unnatural because I did it backwards. I started with straights about ten years ago and just started useing DE's this year. but I'm left handed so I do everything backwards anyway. anyway, welcome to straight razors and hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Welcome & Good Luck!
Like you, I started with DE's and have moved to straights. It is a natural progression. Three months into the process, I still use my DE to do finishing touches on my daily shave. Good things come to those who wait and work on their technique. All the best.
