    Default restoration

I live in phoenix and have been collecting for years and have 15-20 razors in various condition that I would like to clean up/restore. So I was wondering if theres any mentor members here that are into restoration Its something I want to learn so I can restore one or two my self. I am sending some out for honing/sharpening but I would like to learn honing and sharpening and restoration so I can do my own upkeep.
    Thanks

I am not sure about in the Phoenix area, but on SRP the Workshop is one of the largest forums because Restoration gets bigger and bigger all the time...As the supply of NOS and razors in mint condition dwindles lower and lower Restoration starts looking better and better...

Start here if you need help on how to get started and maybe somebody who is close to you will pipe up...

If not you just have to do like the rest of us did and learn as ya go

If you're going to get into restoration you'll need a buffer. Best one I've seen is a low-speed buffer (1725 rpm) from Woodcraft. Costs around $100, and runs smooth and quiet.

Clearly you've never seen a Baldor...

    Restoration warning here:

Buffers of any kind are dangerous, to you and the razor, I highly emphatically recommend staying with hand work on razors, until you learn what is what..

+1 on Glenn's comment. I recently tried a buffer for the first time and in a second the buffer grabbed my blade (Wosty frame back) and threw it against the wall. That must be a tough razor because there was no resulting damage......

I've never been able to hear all of that over the noise of my girlish screaming.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Is that due to figurative or literal emasculation by flying razor?
