Thanked: 0First straight shave...
Wow... I havent had such an epiphany since i drunk fresh roasted coffee..... Awesome.... just AWESOME shave.... and I know I have a long way to go....
So, bought a razor from here from another member, he honed her up, and when I arrived back in the US this morning, she met me here at home.... I played with momma and the kiddo all day, and after she cut my hair, took a nice long shower to get the growth ready (I had 3 days growth, but am rather light-furred), slapped a little musco real around in a bowl, that i had ordered as a back-up-plan to a Walgreens cake of "New and Improved Williams" LOL (could never get that lather really nice, but will keep playing with it...) and lathered up... a neat little sidebar here... I have some pretty serious left-hand-coordinatinon issues here... like I have none.... so I figured I would try to make my right one work, if at all possible (did a few passes with the left, more on THAT below...) so I start wtg on the right cheek.... a couple of little swipes and bingo, out of real-estate.... ok.... tried the left (looking like Criss Angel contorting myself through a plate glass window) and same thing.... ok... so far so good.... well being that I am hardheaded and just determined to cut myself, I try the chin... woah nelly... that angle is tough!!! I go back and try the mustache... a little odd getting under the proboscis, but it went swimmingly, and boosted confidence to shoot for throat, and then moving backwards i guess, the chin last.... well... i seemed to have done a complete WTG shave with no problems (or blood loss) I am shorn well enough to go into work tomorrow, and my face feels GREAT!!!! I dinked around with another pass, but really didn't put the heart into it.... I figure i will save that fancy stuff for when i know what im doing.... I am surely hooked.... and don't know how i am going to break it to the norelco..... (its not you honey, its ME...line, probably). Thanks for all of yalls support here, and the great articles, after reading as much as i have the past few weeks, this was really anticlimactic..... Great show, and thanks again guys!! see yall around!!! Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Thanked: 2Ha ha ha
It is a pretty good feeling isn't it? I personally don't swap hands, but everyone has their own style. Pretty soon you'll be justifying multiple straight razors and shopping for odd sedimentary rocks. Have fun!

I loved the story. Excellent start ...you will more hooked as time moves on. Your confidence will build. I suggest getting your left hand moving. Try doing task s with it to break her in...like lathering with your left hand. It really worked for me.

Nice job and congrats on the shave!
The shave is what its really all about. All the stropping, honing, lathering and so on is great fun, but the best bit is when you finally take that razor to your face and enjoy the shave. I was hooked right from the first one!
Glad you're enjoying it, you'll be pleased to hear it just keeps getting better and better!

Thanked: 1936Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas! As Stu said, all the other work is for the pleasure of the shave and the feeling afterwards. Glad you enjoyed the Boker and had a good shave...especially the first one. Just think, it only gets better!
