There's a pretty good pizza place not too far from there on Colorado Blvd. called "The Garlic Knot." It's next door to Rockler.
    Just sayin'.

    Hi there Scott,

Other people have answered most of your questions, so I won't bother with all of them.

I am a newbie myself to straight razor shaving but have been using paddle strops for years on my outdoors and hunting knives. I've had really great success with Bark River Knife and Tools strop compounds. The black is course and the green is more fine. There is also white and red compounds that are very fine, they're used in the jewellery industry. I find myself using the green compound 90% of the time. It's also worth mentioning that I've used the same two bars of compound for three years and haven't even made a dent in them. They will last you a lifetime.

Hi there and welcome to SRP,,

    ..

    From your Link

Bark River Knife 3 bar compound kit. Includes: black (3,000 grit), black (6,000 grit) and white (12,00 grit) sharpening/buffing compound. Proudly made in the USA for Bark River Knives. Detailed instructions included.

Polishing pastes for razors start around the 8k level and progress to the 100k level and even higher if you wanted..
    You have to understand...
Knives are over here________________________________Razors are over here

Most of these bars out there are not pure, you really want to be very picky on what you use on you razor edges... considering some of the stones we use reach into the 30k+ level

The best way to understand razors vs everything else is this..
"Everything else is just sharp, razors have to be sharp, and smooth enough for yer Hollywood face"

Keep in mind you could use just pastes to maintain a razor, but I still would recommend actual pastes designed around the razor..

    Hope that helps..

    Hi Scott,

I think the others have already given you great advice, so all I can do is share this pearl of wisdom my dad shared with me, "it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it."
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

    Rearden,
I see your dad was a Scout. My dad used to say that also.
    Thanks for the reminder.

    Scott,

I live in the area a tad south of you. I am more near the Broncos HQ. Shoot me a PM if you need anything or have some questions.

    Logistics,
Thanks. Are there any good shave shops in Denver? I know of "Art of Shaving" in CC Mall, and the razor/ vaccum shop (forgot its name) on Broadway off Hampden.
I don't really like Art of Shaving. They seem a bit snooty to me.

I haven't been to the AoS, yet. I have some vacation next week and I was thinking about stopping by. As for the store on Broad and Hamp I've never heard of. I might have to check that one out as there is a nice cigar shop just down the road from there. One place I go to is Bath and Body Works since they have the CO Bigelow line. Trust me, the cream lathers very nice and smells great. CO Bigelow is made by Proraso.

Drive safe out there tonight... roads are slicker than greased owl snot.

I think the shave shop is 1 block farther north on the other side of the street from the smoke shop.
I'll have to try the Bigelow. That sounds good and my wife loves B&B Works.
We're staying home tonight. I'm just glad we finally have some snow. Of course, it will be slick and a fair amount and NOone will remember how to drive in the snow.
