Strop out of a belt?
I've heard word of using a leather belt as a make-shift strop? Is there any fact in this, if so what are the requirements?

It can work if you really have nothing else. You need a smooth belt with no bumps/stitching/etc, and I would think untreated leather would be best. I'd think one that's supple/broken in would be better, too.
Personally, in a pinch, I'd find something else. I'd rather strop on my palm or arm.

i bring this up as my razor may arrive before the strop, and i dont want to go back to the electric, but i dont want to ruin the integrity of the blade by over using it, it'll be about a week between strop and razor in terms of delivery.

I'd rather use my jeans.

Never did use a belt as it was for stroping but did make my go to pasted strop out of an old belt.
If you decide to use one I would say to just make sure it has no stiching or anything else on the side you are going to use and that the leather is not treated with anything.
