    Default Redwoood says hello

    Hi everybody.

    After lurking around for a few weeks, I wanted to finally come out of the shaving closet...

    "Hello, my name is Redwoood and I'm becoming increasingly obsessed with straight razors"
    Although, somehow I have the feeling this is the wrong support group for this addiction... or the right group for the wrong kind of support, ie to encourage the addiction

    Anyhow, just wanted to say hello before I start posting away.

    Any Torontonians here ?

    Redwood,

    Welcome to the forum and the addiction.
    Do you have a straight razor yet? If so
    what kind do you have?

    Thanks for the welcome, Terry.

    I have a Dovo, a Dubl duck, a Boker and a few ebay razors waiting to be cleaned up and honed. And there are two more coming.

    I seriously need to get this under control

    Redwood,

    I know what you mean. I've been at this since
    January and have a Genco, Morley, Boker, Dovo
    a Case and last but not least a Wade and Butcher.

    When I began this little adventure I had no idea
    that my razor collection would grow so quickly.

    I'm trying to get my addiction under control as well.

    Smile Welcome, Redwood

    Toronto is fast becoming the straight razor renaisance capital of the world. I'm sure some of the guys there will say hello. I'm no longer there, but I started there and have met both FiReSTaRT AKA Ilija and Gegtik AKA Craig. Both fine young gentlemen. If you don't mind my asking, how did you find us? I'm just wondering if my Craigslist posting is having any effect.

    Welcome Redwood. Funny how fast we end up with more razors than we need.

    Welcome Redwoood! Now, so that I can keep things straight (pun intended), is it Redwoood or Redwood? And should we call you Red, or do you have a first name we can call you.

    Sit back and enjoy the fun here. You'll find a great bunch of guys here, always happy to offer help and opinions.

    As a wise (?) man once said: the only way of giving a razor its optimal resting time of 100 days is to have 100 razors.

    @xman:
    I found the site through the yahoo mailing list. And I found that... well I don't remember how. It's been so long. I have been lurking and researching for a long time. I never found the motivation to post on the list because I much prefer the web forum format. There are still people who are on the list exclusively, no?
    So where in the great white north are you currently ?

    @rtaylor61:
    The three o's are the way they're supposed to be. Have been using this handle for ages. This way, I can avoid using numbers My first name is Roy, but you can call me whatever you like.

    Default You can...

    You can never have "ENOUGH" razors...There is ALWAYS a reason why you "NEED" that one or this one for instance. Ask anyone who hangs out here.

    Welcome & "May the Strop be with You."

    Jim, as strange as it may sound... I agree!

    Fortunately for me, my ebay sniper program limits me to 15 snipes a month, and thus, limits my potential purchases.
    I guess, if you don't have the discipline, somebody else needs to discipline you
