Thanked: 2209Congrats!
Now that you have all the tools and you have come this far why not continue? Your almost to the point of shaving sharpness so it won't take much more.
From now on try the following. After each shave perform 20 laps on the honwell, and 20 on each of the two pasted strops.
Then strop and shave. You should feel a change after each session. Stop when the razor is shaving you very nicely.
If you have the cash buy another shave ready razor from one of the members here to compare against.

Stick with it! There seems to be a slow learning curve w/ this; at least for me. Having a shave ready razor from Lynn is a great benchmark. It also lets me know how slowly I'm catching on! I keep plugging away, though w/ a medium and a fine barber's hone & then stropping. My older razors keep slowly improving. Thumbnail tests are never a problem; I even use this test w/ my knives (tho' at a steeper angle). Hanging hair is not as good, even w/ the shave ready as my and my wife's hair is very fine. Hair on arm test seems very similar to the shave ready, BUT the shaves aren't nearly as good yet. But every week they get a little better. Now I'm afraid of overhoning!

Thanks again everyone for all of your input. I've been going at it for a while now and the results are getting a little better.
Randy, I'm going to try out your recommendation and see how it goes...sounds like a good idea. Anyways, just wanted to tell everyone that I'm grateful for all of your help. Even if I'm only doing a half-ass job on everything, I'm learning and the results are far better than my old DE days. Things are a lot smoother and the constant rash on my neck is just about gone for good. So thanks to all.

Thanked: 1Pants On
I am definitely for shaving with pants on; at least a towel or robe. In the off chance that the razor does slip and I accidently perform self mutilation (even knowing that medical magic can save me) I just do not want to go through that experience. No thanks.

Once again I must jump in. Shaving "au natural" is the only way to go.. It helps keep youi wide awake and prepared for anything. Chuck the pants and the robe..

I would, but the bathroom floor is tiled and, well, it gets cold.
