I run the water till she's hot. Fill up my soap mug and throw the brush in it. Piddle around for a minute or two, then dump the water on the brush (don't know why) Lather. Shave. Turn on water and rinse. Turn off water and shave. Turn on water and rinse. Turn off water and realize how fat I'm getting in the mirror. Shave. Turn on water and rinse. Turn off water and vow to exercise more. Shave. .....etc.
I've tried wiping on a towel. Don't like it for some reason unknown to me. I've tried diets too, and I know exactly why I don't like them.

Turning it on or off . . .
Gentlemen:
These days I use a cloth to wipe the straight razor during the shave. In the past, when I rinsed the blade during the shave, I preferred not to waste water by just running the faucet.
After the shave, I rinse my Hollywood face and the razor. When using the double edge, I turn the faucet on to rinse and off again. I don't like wasting water.
Regards,
Obie

What I really want to get are those faucet foot pedels so that I can get the water just when i want it without having to use my hands to turn the faucet on and off.
