    Default Cause for concern?

So I noticed after shaving tonight that my razor closes off-center when it has not done so before. I am left-handed, and strop with my left hand. While I am very new to straights - I have improved my stropping technique from my first feeble attempts. I have practiced quite a bit with the butter knife and have employed some of the techniques to make for a smoother and more consistent stroke with little pressure.

I was looking at my razor before I stropped and shaved tonight and all seemed well - centered well when closing, but noticed when I was done that it closes slightly to the left (tang facing away and razor closing toward me) and is perilously close to contacting the scales. Is this cause for concern? Please don't tell me I've managed to jack up my razor after only a handful of uses.

Sorry for being so long-winded. I was just trying to explain all that I have done with the razor to help some of the more knowledgeable members diagnose the issue.

This was just posted yesterday actually.

Some of the answers given there may help you but unfortunately I'm new to straights so I can't offer anything myself

Welcome, fellow lefty shaver! What is it about us lefties that makes us so obsessive? I have 4 straights in my rotation at this time. They all share some common traits:
They all cost me less than 30 bucks each. ($75 collectively)
They all close to the left or right. Not a single one dead center. One actually makes contact with the scales if I let it.
They are all really, really old.
They all are a joy to shave with.

If the razor is new, send it back to be adjusted or replaced. If not: relax, have a nice hot shave, pour yourself a tall drink, light up a good cigar, and celebrate how good life is!
