Hmmmm, that shouldn't be the case if it were properly honed. If you've been SR shaving for a year, then you're probably familiar with proper angle and pressure, so the only variable left is honing. My suggestion would be to send it out to a honemeister to get a good edge put on it
If you are referring to the razor Philadelph honed, I can vouch that most likely it already was "properly honed."
I touch up my razors as soon as I can recognize any diminishment in the quality of the shave. I don't wait until it is tugging or pulling.
