I've used aloe vera for years. Cheap enough - no greasy feeling, but may sting a little if used right after a shave, as many brands (or no name brands as well) use some alcohol. I just plop some of it on followed by my usual aftershave lotion. Just another alternative. I also occasionally put on aftershave again in the evening - I'm a morning shaver.

Josh, I don't use the baby oil any more after my shave. I only use it for a pre-shave prep, and use a splash of alkyhaul (70% isopropyl) to sterilize and a tiny, pea-sized dollop of Paul Mitchell tea tree leave-in hair and skin conditioner. The tea tree oil smells manly enough for me, and it helps restore any moisture lost due to the alcohol's effects.

I was only mentioning baby oil post-shave as an option, but if you have an aftershave regimen that gives you good results, stick to it. You don't want to go changing everything all at once, because if something goes wrong, it's difficult to isolate the variable responsible for the irritation. Do everything as you usually do, but make a single, small change and see how/if/why that helps/hurts/doesn't matter. As you expand your experimentation, you'll be able to identify single, specific material(s) that are more/less suitable for you and your skin. Remember: safe is slow, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. It applies to change as well as your razor stroke.

Whatever you do, have fun and be safe!

I use Vaseline for men. It is cheap and more than anything convenient. I leave it out in my bedroom so I can use it all the time. You can see it here behind all that other stuff that I also use. Last thing on my face during the winter is the Vaseline.
I don't like a greasy feeling so I'll walk by put some on my hands, rub it into my face and then wipe my hands on my arms and legs. Works really well and is pretty cheap.
