Thanked: 1371Those fellers in India are full of BS... Unless the water is at a rapid boil it won't affect the edge.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

While using a straight, I just wipe on a face cloth after each swipe. I used to use the hot water rinse for DE and cartridge razors though. Perhaps that is why my shaving has improved?
Enjoy!

Steel, like any metal, will get softer as its temperature rises. That said, I highly doubt that difference would be detectable on a razor's edge without a high-tech scientific measurement.
I strongly suspect the cited "differences" felt between a "hot" and "cold" razor has a lot more to do with the temperature of the skin than it does with the temperature of the razor. With skin there is certainly a difference between hot and cold.
