Thanked: 0Suggested Blade for Beginners
As I am still quite new, I understand I have a lot to learn and a lot of practice to do with the straight blade. However, I was wondering if there is a good type of blade to learn with. I have a full hollow ground Dovo that I have a hard time keeping from wanting to skip. Would those of you who know what you're doing suggest trying to learn on a more solid blade (1/2 or quarter hollow, wedge) or sticking with the one I've got?

Stick with the one you have. Make sure it's been professionally sharpened.

Thanked: 1371If it's skipping it's either dull, your angle is wrong, or you're using too much pressure.
Good luck!

Thanked: 0Thanks. I know the blade is sharp--came shave ready from Lynn. It's most likely the angle. I appreciate the input.

You have a great blade from Lynn. Take your time, practice slowly. And have fun.
