    Default Suggested Blade for Beginners

As I am still quite new, I understand I have a lot to learn and a lot of practice to do with the straight blade. However, I was wondering if there is a good type of blade to learn with. I have a full hollow ground Dovo that I have a hard time keeping from wanting to skip. Would those of you who know what you're doing suggest trying to learn on a more solid blade (1/2 or quarter hollow, wedge) or sticking with the one I've got?

Stick with the one you have. Make sure it's been professionally sharpened.

If it's skipping it's either dull, your angle is wrong, or you're using too much pressure.

    Good luck!

Thanks. I know the blade is sharp--came shave ready from Lynn. It's most likely the angle. I appreciate the input.

You have a great blade from Lynn. Take your time, practice slowly. And have fun.
