Thanked: 0other concerns
Wow..
The more I read the more questions I have. I have been looking through classifieds and I am seeing terms like "original scales" and "Loose scales" and also I see the term "shoulderless".
As a newbie what do i need to know about these terms?

Desert,
Like all things it seems, straight shaving has its own jargon
Please have a peek in the wiki; it is a font of wisdom !
Straight Razor Place Wiki
Original scales means that the scales on the razor are those that were on it when it was made.
Loose scales is probably describing loose pinning, particularly around the pivot pin; this means that the scales will too easily rotate about the blade, which can be annoying in shaving & stropping !
Shoulderless is a style of blade where the single or double stabilisers are absent.
Please see wiki entry below for examples of shoulderless blades:

Have fun !
Best regards
