Thanked: 0Recieved shave ready razor today!!!
After a couple of weeks trying to get some ebay specials sharp I decided to follow the advice of the old schoolers and get a shave ready razor from a member here. It arrived today and after I finished working in the yard it was time to give it a go....
I was alittle apprehensive about stropping it...i was afraid of ruining the edge. I took my time and gave it about 20 each on canvas and leather and proceeded with the shave. Now I know what I have been missing. I have been getting pretty close to this level of sharpness, but it's that last little bit that makes everything kinda fall into place. The razor doesn't catch in those spots that I'm still not as comfortable shaving...ie chin and upper lip, and it all went smoother than it has in the past. Only one little nick and cold water took care of that. Now if I can develop a better pattern it may take me less than 20 minutes!!!
Will keep you guys posted on my progress....I couldn't have done it without you!!!

Just remember, read the help files, watch the videos, have a cordless phone handy with the ambulance on speed dial and sign the waiver. .
Seriously though, I hope you do well. try to keep the 20 to 30 degree angle. If you're uncertain, do the easy parts a few times first till you get comfortable with the blade.
Be very careful around lips, nose, ears, and carotid arteries. Tell everyone to leave you alone while shaving and lock the bathroom door to be safe .
Good luck and have funLast edited by Flanny; 07-01-2006 at 03:26 PM.

Also, a video conference on skype or yahoo might help with your honing. Randy's done a couple. Lynn's really good with instructions. He gave me a really good honing class .
