First Shave with a Str8!
So I got my second razor yesterday (this one was shave ready) so I decided to give it a whirl this morning. Have to say that I am quite impressed with the art of straight shaving and my ability to do it. I started out thinking I would just start with the Dominant Hand cheek side and then switch to the safety, but after a few more swipes I just kept going. No cuts other than the normal ones on my neck that I always get. Guess that means I am going full steam ahead!
Thanks for all of the pointers from everyone here on the boards! Made my first shave great!

Thanked: 0Another beginner
Just had my fourth straight shave. First three were prior to realization of the importance of the proper angle and letting blade glide with NO PRESSURE. Also after my initial incompetent stropping attempts I decided to send my razor back to Mr. Bob Keyes for honing. He sold me a great Worcester Co Razor and is an amazing craftsman and a gentleman. He offered to rehone my razor for free and I will be his life-long customer. So I held my shave-ready razor for the fourth time and it was simply a great experience. I am infinitely far from being adequately skilled and my WTG pass is not as close as I would like it to be but the experience is exhillirating, my face feels comfortable and smells great (thanks to Mama Bear Vanilla and Sandalwood). I will never go back to shaving with anything else. To all the beginners my advice is be patient and don't hesitate to send your razor to a honemeister if you suspect it may not be sharp anymore after a few stropping mishaps.
