    Default day two:

...so i shaved again today, after taking the razor to an older barbershop down the street. he didn't have too much time, just gave it a few good passes on a strop to show me how, then a few passes on a hone. he tested it on the old thumbnail, said it wasn't too bad, and passed along a few other pointers.

got home, showered, prepped, and shaved again. Didn't have to finish with a safety razor this time, got it very nearly as close as any safety razor i ever used, and still no cuts. good times.

my face is a bit raw. any recommendations on an aftershave lotion that doesn't smell like old spice? i tried some pinaud once at a girlfriend's parents' country club and liked it.
i actually liked the old-timey smell. for that matter, i really like the old-timey way the boar's brush smells. is that wierd? i'm only 28, though lately i've taken to wearing the kind of slip-on shoes my grandfather used to wear.
