Better This Time
Hello to all from Glenn
I had another shave this morning and it was much better than my last try. Not perfectly smooth but smooth enough and no razor burn or nicks and no touch up with disposable. My last shave was Monday and I really got some burn on that try and that was about my 8th. I used my new razor on Mondays shave that I got and honed myself with alot of help from senior members here and it was sharp and cut good but the blade is a round point hollow or full hollow ground(not sure which but I will get some pics here for a little help) and is 6/8 wide with no smile and I had more trouble with it than my other razor which is only about 9/16 wide with a little bit of a smile. It seemed huge to me and was harder to control what I did with it. Today I used my other razor and had much better luck. Im figuering out how to stretch my skin and my growth patterns and that helped alot and also tried to use a light touch and go very slowly and not burn my skin. Im not going to try anything but WTG for a while. I also did the the cold water thing that I read here about and really liked that and it seemed to really help. Im hoping to be able to shave a little more often than every 3 or 4 days so if my skin feels ok mabey in the morning again. Is it normal for a beginer to have trouble using a razor with a wider blade thats more of a hollow ground with a strainght edge. Hope this helps any other new guys like myself that after a bad shave there are those better shaves so Im moving forward and learning with each shave and loving it.

In the early stages I was happy to settle for a pain and nick free decent shave, deciding to leave that perfect shave for the future. Every time I insisted on a really close shave, I just wound up with razor burn, weepers from too many close passes, or nicks. Perfection may come with time and practice, but now just try to enjoy your shaves and benefit from the mistakes that you make. It'll come, but it will come slowly.
