Thanked: 1Purchased my first razor tody
I purchased my first razor today from Whippeddog.com. I'm curious, what's the best soaps to use and what's a good hone to start with? How do I go about uploading a pic?

If you purchased a razor from Larry @Whippeddog you don't have to worry about a hone, Larry puts an awesome edge on his razors, smooth and extremely sharp. You could have gotten all the necessities from him, a poor mans kit on his site is all you really need, and he has Barber's Hones. Its a one stop shop !

Welcome aboard! I made a recent purchase from Larry and IIRC, he shipped on a Friday and it was in my mailbox on Monday (he's in TX, I'm in CA). If you're looking for a good soap/cream to begin with, Proraso is great stuff. A tub of it on classicshaving.com will run you $8.95 + shipping. If you have a Bath and Body Works nearby, they sell Proraso in the tube, packaged as C.O. Bigelow. About the only other things you'll need is a strop, brush, styptic pencil/powder, and aftershave.
As far a posting a pic, click the "go advanced" button, then click on the attach files button (the paper clip) and attach your pic. Click the "preview post" button to make sure it looks good, and send it on it's way.
Welcome to your new obsession!

Thanked: 190Looks like a fun one! I have a few Mama Bear soaps that perform very well and I like them alot. If your current vendor can't hook you up with everything you need, I am sure the SPR vendors can.
Enjoy!

Benton Clay, Lavender and Lime Bergamot are both awesome soaps at a great price, also Provence Sante is real nice soap, and last forever ! Williams and VDH are available at CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and alot of grocery stores. Good luck and let us know how the razor works out!
