Thanked: 1How Long
About how long should a regular aerosol can of gillete shaving cream last, versus a regular puck of shaving soap. About how many shaves.
Many thanks in advance.

I've never used an aerosol, but my guess would be somewhere in the area of 30-50 shaves. I'm working on a cake of soap now that has 50 shaves on it and is less than 1/4 gone, so I'm guessing it'll go about 200 shaves.

Thanked: 19Canned stuff (Barbasol) about a month for me, with a three pass shave, puck 5 months or so of daily use (MWF). Depends on the canned stuff, some have more "air" than others. Soaps are more consistent.

Thanked: 190It is my estimate that the pucks and creams last 3-4 times or longer than the canned goo. It has never crossed my mind to even try the can goo again once I started using pucks and creams.

I can't remember the last time I used a canned shave product. I find a tub of cream typically lasts me about 4 months.

It's been so long since I used the canned goo that I don't remember how long a can lasts either.
I've been wet shaving for years and get about 5 months out of a standard puck of soap when used daily.

I'd say an aerosol can lasts way too long. Or maybe not long enough. The one thing I'd take from my experience of wet-shaving, whether with straights or double-edge, is that I'd never ever return to aerosol shaving cream. Shaving soap in a mug will be with me forever!

Ask Utopian
On one thread, Utopian spoke of a puck lasting years. I'm convinced he's right, but he uses a method some won't like - not rinsing the soap out of the brush - so it's available for the next shave.
I do this now also. 'Bought a tin of PDP last August. It now finally has some dishing to the surface of the puck (after 6 mo. of maybe 3-4 uses/wk - that's 91 shaves). Certainly not all pucks are as hard as the 'triple milled' hard soaps, but it's clear this puck will last longer than I would want.
'Didn't like PDP at first. The issue was my noob skills. The hard soaps take more time to load a brush and develop lather. Shave is very good, though I prefer other soaps.

Who cares how long a can of goo lasts? Nobody uses it and for good reason(s)! It doesnt do the job and it doesnt last like a puck. I would rather be stuck with a puck of Williams than to be given a six pack of whatever goo in a can.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain
