okay, i am slowly getting on my feet, and recovering from a $70 dollar "great deal". i have every thing i need but the razor. How ever what else do i need, i hear for a straight razor you need a good lather or you will get a crud shave. is this true? and if so what kind of cream, what other things do i know,and also are there any beginner strokes for shaving, i know i will cut myself a few times, but i would like to be shave

I don't know what the 'great deal' included. If you have a strop, a brush, and some soap, that's everything you need to get started.
If you're looking for advice on buying a razor, you'll get lots of it. It would be good to know what your budget is.
