Patience rewarded
Hi All
So I've been using str8s for about 5 months now, and after all the irritation, nicks, cuts and swearing I'm deligted to report my first BBS blood-free shave!
If any other newbies are getting tired of not getting the result they want from their shaves I'd say stick with it - when you get your first damn good shave the satisfaction is incredible!
I'll be smiling all day now!Yours sincerely, the little voice in your head that talks when you read stuff.

Excellent! Congrats.
Any thoughts on what you learned on the way that helped you succeed?

Cheers mate!
I suppose from the start I accepted that I would cut myself, and several times, whilst learning to use the blade. I think knowing that helped me to relax whilst shaving instead of being uptight and shaking, hoping I wouldn't cut myself.
Let's face it, unless you do something incredibly daft, you won't cut yourself any worse than you would with a Bic disposable. So go with it, relax, take your time and enjoy it would be the main points of what I've learned.Yours sincerely, the little voice in your head that talks when you read stuff.

Thanked: 2Nice to hear. Good motivational post for those of us still in the intro stages. I have not had the knicks so much, but the one big cut is a constant reminder I am not quite there yet. I am on month two now, and I am hoping to get up the guts to try the chin and upper lip again soon. The cheeks are an amazingly good shave, much better than the Mach 3. The neck areas are still tough.

Thanked: 1195Congrats on the milestone shave!
I completely agree that you must resign yourself to the fact that cutting yourself is part of the learning curve. If you're not willing to shed some blood this is not the sport for you.

Thanked: 1Congrats! I'm about in the same place. I have a nice smooth face as we speak. I still get nicks and cuts occassionally, but that's because I'm still experimenting with the best atg techniques. My beard seems to grow sideways in some places, and I'm always trying to get it smoother than the shave before. Great hobby!
