Default First try with the legs?

I am about to do my first shave with a straight razor in a few days. I have read that there is a bit of a learning curve so I am wondering if it makes sense to practice on my legs before moving to my face? That way if I were to cut myself, I wouldn't risk putting a scar on my face.

I don't think you should start with your legs. If you have not done so already, read Lynn's thread in the "Beginners" forum entitled, "First straight shave-read first." Take it slow and remember patience and practice will pay off in the end...which could take a few weeks or months. Heed Lynn's advice and you should be fine. Best of luck.
