Jeff's Video Tip: Practicing for Beginners - Razor Handling
Here is something I filmed to help beginners get more comfortable with a razor in their hand. It's something I figured out on my own, although I'm sure others have done this. I just never saw it done before, so I thought I would create this video to demonstrate.
Feel free to comment and let me know if it helped you!

In itself a great way to practice.
I would take a dull razor that is slightly safer.

Interesting idea. Getting a sense of how to hold the razor and touch it to your skin. Add some lather and you can get an idea of how you're missing spots in curves, etc. An alternative that's been posted is to use a shavette razor with a plastic/paper insert made from a business card, etc. Either way will help you figure out how to position your arms, turn your wrists, and handle the razor in a way that is comfortable and allows you to see while lowering the chance that you'll slice your face.
Thanks for posting!

Hi, cool tip. I hadn't thought of that. Also, you have a very good style of presenting the subject matter, keep it up!

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I should mention that this handling tip is certainly not the only way to practice. Before I discovered it, I actually made a crude looking version with a piece of paper that mimicked a razor. It was then that I discovered I could use the razor itself by inverting the handle, and feel the actual weight and position of the blade without cutting myself.
This was my best alternative because I didn't have any safety razors to practice with.
I'm glad to see that so many people are liking the video! It inspires me to keep filming more!

Thanks Jeff-I'll give this a try, I don't have an old dull razor to practice with and I don't have much inclination to go to the trouble of making a "practice razor" out of non-lethal material the way you did!
